Painting depicts an actual queen of Angola who fought off the colonization of the Portuguese for many years. She coined the term “fight the power”. There are little to no known oil paintings of Nzinga but this one! All others are lithograph and sketch or watercolor. We remember and allow her to live again when we speak her name and adore her beauty!
